Student attendance is a basic data-point in the daily operations of every school … so what does school use of attendance data tell us about the realities of the ‘datafication’ of education?
We are pleased to announce the publication of a new paper from the DSS project. This paper – published in Research in Education – examines how schools make use of (and imagine the possibilities of) student attendance data.
In particular, the paper identifies and explores ‘anticipatory’, ‘analytical’ and ‘administrative’ aspects of how digitally-mediated attendance data is produced, used and imagined by schools.
